Just off the Gateway Arterial Highway, and only 13km from Brisbane's CBD, Brisbane International and Domestic Airports offer easy access for visitors to Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and northern New South Wales.

Each year the airport services more than 3.7 million international travellers from nearly 30 locations including China, the Middle East, Europe, the United Kingdom and the west coast of the United States of America. A further 12.3 million passengers travel to Brisbane from more than 35 domestic locations across Australia.

Before you leave the airport grounds, check out the Kingsford Smith Memorial. This glass walled building houses the famous 'Southern Cross' aircraft in which Sir Charles Kingsford Smith made the first historic air crossing of the Pacific Ocean.

The Direct Factory Outlet centre, located on Airport Drive, is Brisbane's premier outlet shopping destination. Browse well known brands in fashion, accessories, jewellery, leathergoods and homewares, all heavily discounted. Beyond the largely industrial airport district, the nearby suburbs of Hamilton and Ascot are where you will find a wide range of comfortable accommodation options, live entertainment and cosmopolitan shopping destinations.

Fabulous dining abounds in the suburbs adjacent to the airport. Discover the eclectic assortment of eateries along Ascot's tree-lined Racecourse Road: a wonderful mix of slick cafes, riverside seafood restaurants and stately tea houses. Further along the river at Hamilton, try some of the hip new cafes or sample the fare at one of the local award-winning restaurants, many of which boast stunning waterfront views. The legendary Breakfast Creek Hotel lives up to its reputation for Brisbane's best steaks, and is one of the few hotels in the world to still serve beer from a chilled wooden keg.

Perched on the banks of the beautiful Brisbane River, Hamilton is within easy reach of the city heart, thanks to numerous regular bus routes and the CityCat ferry service.
