Welcome to South Bank

>> An Introduction To South Bank
Discover a range of new cultures without having to leave the beautiful Queensland weather! South Bank brings a small slice of Latin dance and music to Little Stanley Street every Friday night. Learn the rhythmic sway of Latin dance, or simply enjoy watching the experts demonstrate.

South Bank features many cultural celebrations, including Sharad Poonam, a harvest festival that traditionally marks the end of the rainy season. Beautiful coloured saris and jewellery embellish the women of the Gujarati community as they mark this symbolic observance.

In the warmer months, Streets Beach is a white sand, blue water haven in which to cool off. Professional lifeguards are on duty seven days a week and tropical plants provide shade for relaxing. With shallow areas for the little ones, and beautiful views to be enjoyed, Streets Beach is a fabulous place for the whole family to enjoy.

A one kilometer stretch of bougainvillea encased steel columns is the centerpiece of South Bank. The Arbor has been a popular feature of many Brisbane fun runs, its spectacular colours making a vibrant and memorable backdrop.

On a weekend, the South Bank lifestyle markets are a great destination to begin, and run until 10pm on Friday night. Sumptuous food, colourful art, designer fashion and home wares can all be found here. The lifestyle markets have so much on offer all weekend that they make a great meeting place for friends and family.

Variety of dining in South Bank is second to none. Choose from Sri Lankan, Japanese, Greek, Szechuan, Malaysian or Turkish. For true entertainment whilst eating, Ahmet?s Turkish Restaurant has belly dancing Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Cocktail lovers will squeal with delight at the expansive menu on offer at the Greystone bar and Cellar.

South Bank is a hive of activity during school holidays. Watch movies on a 5m x 4m big screen in the Suncorp Piazza, or burn off some energy on one of the three playgrounds in the area. Looking for something a bit more relaxed? The State Library of Queensland runs yoga and dance activities, as well as the traditional reading activities.

Whatever you have in mind, it can be found at South Bank!
