Welcome to Brisbane Southern Suburbs
Stepping out of the city does not mean missing out on the best things in Brisbane! Head south to discover a whole range of new and exciting areas, each with something new to experience.
If you are interested in the multicultural side of Brisbane, the southern suburbs have a lot to offer. Aside from the magnitude of dining options from around the world, there is also a fascinating range of architecture and sights to behold. Visit the Linh Son Temple, a Buddhist place of worship in Darra, and be captivated by its amazing design and ethereal atmosphere.
Brisbane's southern suburbs offer a wide variety of outdoor activities. Head to Forest Lake, where you can enjoy a picnic by the main lake, or even paddle a canoe in it! Golfing fans can head to McLeod Country Golf Club in Mount Ommaney. This is the only club in the Southern Hemisphere to be managed by female members, and 14 of the 18 holes involve water! Have a swing on the practice greens, or take part in a private lesson. After a round or two you can relax in the Clubhouse, which has numerous dining options and a full bar.
There are plenty of places to dine out in the southern suburbs, from the Vietnamese restaurants in Darra and the assorted Asian eateries on Mains Road and McCollough Street in Sunnybank. Otherwise, pop into Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre and try one of the cafes.
For those keen on a little retail therapy, the southern suburbs feature plenty of shops. Drop into Mesmerize at Forest Lakes Village Shopping Centre for a gorgeous new dress, or Sassy at Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre for some fabulous accessories. Sunnybank Plaza has several specialty stores and a large cinema, so you can catch the latest movies.
If you'd prefer to indulge yourself or simply wind down a little, try Hands of Health at Forest Lakes Shopping Village. Hands of Health provides a range of massage options, and will have you feeling like new in no time.
