Nestled in the Fassifern Valley near Boonah, just an hour outside Brisbane, Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm offers a unique wine and food experience set amidst the magnificent Scenic Rim mountains.

An elegant blend of rustic and contemporary architecture, the 5 star property comprises a cellar door, restaurant and lavender shop which overlook the surrounding vienyards and lavender fields. The cellar door showcases Kooroomba's award-winning wines, offering free tastings. Their unusual Verdelho Marsanne, which recieved high praise when served in Paris, is just one of the many varieties grown on the property. Other varieties include Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet and Merlot.

Continuing a long tradition of exceptional winemaking in the Ipswich District, Ironbark Ridge Vineyard handpicks the grapes for their award-winning Chardonnay, Shiraz and Grenache. Located at Purga, about 40 minutes from Brisbane, Ironbark Ridge Vineyard is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Visitors can sample various wines including Marsanne, Rousanne and Viognier in the historical tasting room - an original 1900s miners cottage. Choose from a fabulous selection of cheeses, olives and coffee to match your wine, or enjoy a gourmet barbecue on weekends.

The cellar door also boasts a fascinating range of Ironbark Ridge memorabilia, and other local products made from Ironbark Ridge Port or Liqueur Chardonnay.

One of the closest wineries to Brisbane, Mosquito Creek Winery's picturesque vineyard is planted with five grape varieties blended to create their tempting range of pink and red sparkling wines. The cellar door also features a fine selection of red and white table wines and port.

An enjoyable 25 minute drive south-west of Ipswich, Normanby Wines is a proudly family owned and run vineyard and cellar door.

Experience the delights of the countryside while sampling a superb range of wines unique to the local soil and climate. Some of these include the award-winning Verdelho, Shiraz, Viognier, Veraz and the rare Durif. You can even enjoy a barbecue under the trees.

Tour the seven acres of vineyards where the grapes are carefully handpicked, or simply marvel at the scenery from the shady courtyards.

Just outside Dayboro in the Pine Rivers Shire, a scenic 45 minutes from central Brisbane, Oceanview Estates is a self-sufficient winery occupying 140 acres of picturesque grounds.

At 450m above sea level, Oceanview enjoys its own micro-climate, ideal for producing high quality wines including Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet. Here visitors can learn about each stage of wine production, from vine planting to bottling.

Tour the winemaking facilities, taste the wines at the wine bar, or complement your drop with the perfect meal in the stylish new cellar door/restaurant that overlooks the vineyards and lake. The restaurant serves a wide variety of gourmet treats such as cheeses, antipasto, fresh salads, homemade cakes and delicious handmade chocolates. The restaurant also hosts special events including live music nights, the annual 'Jazz and Shiraz' event, and more.

For those concerned about driving home, Oceanview Estates even has two luxurious cottages where you can relax and unwind amongst the vines.

Featuring spectacular views of the D'Aguilar Ranges, Warrego Wines is the only processing winery in the Scenic Rim mountain region, west of Brisbane. It is also Queensland's only certified organic winery, using organically grown grapes and processing wine according to the stringent standards.

Led by eccentric winemaker Kevin Watson, visitors can tour the modern winemaking facilities as well as see a fine collection of antique winemaking equipment. Taste and buy award-winning wines including Rose, Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Merlot at the cellar door's lovely Red Gum bar. The knowledgeable staff will be happy to assist you by explaining the properties of each wine and suggesting foods to match them.
